A look at the Weekend Winners & Next Week’s Place to Be
This weekend everyone finally sighed with relief as resorts all over the US received snow!
I would be remiss if I didn’t also remind everyone that Europe is killing it with the stellar snow conditions. Week after week they are getting feet of snow.
If you can get your butt over to Europe this winter season, I highly recommend you do. (and yes, I would be happy to help you plan your trip too!)
This weekend, the snow gods were handing out accumulations of snow like Oprah giving away cars…
The place that had the icing on the cake?
One I guarantee you’ve never heard of before in Idaho. Total Accumulation from Friday to Monday:
56” of snow! WHOAH.
Pomerelle Mountain Resort
I admit, I had to google this and find out where it was. But once I did a little research, I am definitely putting this mountain on my places to visit…
Pomerelle Mtn Resort is located near Albion, Idaho, in the bottom center of the State. In fact, Those who live in Ogden, Utah can reach it via interstate 84, faster than those in Boise.
It is small.
I love small resorts. Where lift lines are small (or non-existant). Where the focus is on the skiing and riding instead of the amenities. This is where time slows a bit.
You have a total of 3 lifts, 32 runs, and 3 terrain parks. Although, I hear there is access to amazing backcountry terrain. (This is avalanche country, people. Know before you GO.)
Night Skiing? On Fridays and Saturdays you can ski at night until 9pm.
Ticket prices are a steal if you ask me. The ticket window, Adult day pass is $65 and the Day into Night pass is $70. I love this place already.
The only downside to this little gem is lodging….You will have to find it 12 miles away in Albion. Lodging there consists of one place, The Marsh Creek Inn. Yelp reviews are extremely positive, so I don’t think you can go wrong here. This 12 room establishment does have an outdoor hot tub and they provide fresh muffins with hot beverages in the morning.
If there is no room at the Inn, your next closest lodging is in Burley, Idaho. Its about a 45min drive to the resort. In Burley, you can book Hampton, Holiday, Best Western, Fairfield, or Super 8, should you want one of the bigger hotel chains.
Next Week’s Powder
Again, this upcoming week is a bit more difficult to pick just one place as three storm systems bring many, many areas snow.

Almost every region in the US is forecasted to get 1 to 2 feet of snow or more.
The biggest winners are places like Shasta, California, Wolf Creek, Colorado, and Alta, Utah. These guys might see somewhere in the range of 4 feet of snow…

We are getting into the thick of winter and avalanche season. There are a ton of resources to help you stay up to date and refreshed in avalanche safety. Check your local shop to find courses and programs near you. My favorite, is the “Know Before You Go” program by the Nickolay Dodov Foundation.
